Howard County, Maryland is located in Central Maryland just west of Baltimore City and County and Northeast of Montgomery County and Washington D.C.. Currently home to over 340,000 residents in 120,000 households, this convenient and commutable location as well as its reputation for being a well-designed community with a high median income, makes it highly sought after.
Given the location and reputation, you may envision a lot of cookie-cutter homes on small lots so you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find many established neighborhoods with homes on approximately 1/2 acre.

These homes are typically serviced with public water and sewer and county refuse service and are easily accessible to the many commuter routes to nearby DC and Baltimore.
There are certainly communities with smaller lots and newer homes as well as those with larger homes and lots but these older neighborhoods provide a great option for homebuyers looking to spend well under $650,000 to find a home with approximately 2,000 sq. ft. living area on a 1/2 acre lot.
